ULC Standards Numbering

Dear Stakeholder:

ULC Standards is implementing a new, simplified standards designation format. This simplified designation provides better clarity to stakeholders in identifying the most recent version of the standard and aligns with the spirit of the continuous maintenance of standards.

Effective immediately, all ULC standards will be published with a four-digit element (YYYY) marking the year of the most recent publication for revisions and new editions. A subsequent publication event taking place in the same year, will be distinguished by a letter (i.e., A, B, C, etc.) after the year element. In addition, new editions will omit the use of the hyphen and the indicator ā€œSā€ that currently precedes the standard number. For example, the next new edition of CAN/ULC S503-05-REV1 if published in 2023 would become CAN/ULC 503:2023.  Existing ULC publications will retain their present designation until a revision or new edition is published.
