Fire Marshal Bulletin - Calgary Fire Department
Purpose:
UPDATE - COVID-19 EMERGENCY LIFE SAFETY SYSTEMS
This document clarifies the expectations of Calgary Fire Department (CFD) regarding the ability to perform maintenance or repairs to life safety systems during the Covid-19 emergency.
Communication Update:
Further to our email dated March 18, 2020, we ask that you please familiarize yourselves with the updated Standata outlining the approved process: Fire Code Bulletin - March 2020.
We continue to recommend that Residential C Occupancy inspections/device testing should be performed by tenants if possible at this time, and inspections to annual maintenance requirements without impairments to the system can be postponed until they can be performed safely and efficiently. If any system has impairments that affect the operation of that system, whether that be in the form of alarm, supervisory and trouble signals, these system impairments should be prioritized to ensured they are functioning as designed. Priority should be given to those systems that need to be repaired to ensure operability.
Life safety companies and Calgary business owners should communicate and determine best courses of action to ensure the public and worker safety at this time.
Any questions should be forwarded to FireLegal@calgary.ca.
